Makhammad Aslanov
On Immigration:
People move from countries to other countries for a better life. Everybody hopes to live the life well. My family moved from Turkey to Uzbekistan, from Uzbekistan to Russia, from Russia to U.S.A. They were in search of good lives. I think that we have to stop the immigration because it separates families and kills people. I think the other countries need to improve their economies and make better life for their own people.
Autobiographical Writing:
The Past, Present and Future Life of Makhammad Aslanov
When I was a child I lived in Kursk, Russia. It was very, very cold. I lived with my parents, my brother and sister in a house in the city near many relatives. I went to a one room school house from first grade to tenth grade. Additionally, I studied music for six years, specializing in the piano. My dad was the music teacher. I would have graduated in one more year if I had stayed in Russia.
As a teenager in Kursk, I fought a lot because the Russian people didn’t like us. We were Turkish and we are of Muslim faith. I was angry because of this discrimination.
As a result of prejudice and a lack of opportunity, we decided to move the U. S. when I was 16 years old because we wanted a better life. We moved to Tucson, Arizona and I became a student at Catalina High School. I didn’t speak English and I missed my friends. Eventually, I began to study and I learned English and I also got a job. I stopped playing the piano because I didn’t have time. I am happy now because I have friends and life is getting better. I will graduate this year and begin my adult life.
My plans for the future include attending Pima Community College and then transferring to the UofA to study business. I want to own my own real estate business. I love cars and hope to have a collection one day. I also want to travel around the world and eventually live in Los Angeles with my family. I’ll love my family, have a lot of children and enjoy life. As the youngest son in a Muslim family, I will provide for my parents. I am so happy that we came to the USA because my family and I now have so many possibilities in the future.
