On War & Immigration:

Do you know why immigrants leave their country? I want people to know that immigrants leave their country because of war, jobs and for other things they can’t provide for in their country.

War is when people fight alongside each other and kill each other without any consideration of human beings. I think people need to stop racism and encourage refugees and immigrants all over Tucson and the United States because war is a violent thing that people don’t want to experience.

Autobiographical Writing:

Who I Was Before I Came to the U.S.

I lived through war and violence
The war started with politics and hatred
My life was in danger
I was scared for my life

I used to be one of the best students in school
Education was the key to my life
But was lost because of the war

My life became discouraging
I never thought I would survive the war
I walked through the valley of the dead for five years
I lived with undernourishment, with hunger, for half of my life

I struggled for food and survival
Going from village to village
Running away from the violent people
We passed many villages on foot, over 100 miles a day

Going from east to west, north to south
Without knowing which direction we were going
I lived through disaster half of my life
Struggling for survival

We finally arrived at a small village
Where I thought the rebels had never been
There, thanks to God, I had a little rest
I lived through the hardest times of my life
I lost friends and family members

Present

In my life, I am the happiest person. I want to be the best person that ever can be. I am going to graduate from high school this year and get a degree and have a happy family that I always wanted to have and a job that I like.

Currently, I spend most of my time with my friends and family having fun during the week days. During the weekend, I spend most of my time working. I love my job at Mesquite Valley Growers. I love growing flowers and talking to customers.

I am a person that wants all the happiness of the world for my family. I want every one around me to be happy and judge me by the way I am, not by my color. I am a very smart student. I do what it takes to be a good student. I am a student that has been through a lot of things in life and I have many life experiences.

I am an energetic student who likes sports. Soccer is my favorite sport. I have a happy and peaceful life because everything I need is going on good which makes my life perfect.

Future Lawrence

My name is Lawrence Kanneh. I will be graduating from high school in May this year. That will be the biggest change in my life because I never had the time to finish high school in Sierra Leone before the war started. And I will be going to college after I graduate.

I want to become a billionaire, owning my own company by investing my money in car sales. Also, I want to make my money by landscaping million dollar houses.

I would like people to live with freedom and have everything I need for living. I want to become a famous person for doing good things, such as spending my money on orphanages, providing food, clothing, and education. I would also like to provide household tools others might need to sustain life. In my future, I will hire people to help me and my company. Then they, also, can earn a good living.

I imagine that it will be a good way to get my career started and I wish to accomplish my goals.
