On War:

Citizens of Tucson, be aware that war is like losing your parents or becoming powerless in your own country, without regard or encouragement from others which makes you feel proud and honored to continue with your life. If respect doesn’t happen, it suddenly brings hatred, violence, and corruption which destroys homes or countries. As a result of that, it makes people become foreigners or refugees in other nations.

In order to stop the war, we need to stop manufacturing destructive weapons. We need to share things in common and understand each other. We need to have a better trading system among countries, whether rich or poor, to have value and equality over their resources to build up a successful world.

Autobiographical Writing:

Struggle for Existence

My father and mother strove in foreign countries
to find their daily bread.
They left their homeland because of war
and corruption.

We don’t build guns or bullets in our country,
Yet war has lasted so many years, still now.
We have become cursed with the wealth of our countries.
We have become refugees in foreign nations.

When I look into the eyes of my mother and father
I see tears of sorrow, and pain
No more tears of laughter,
No more tears of joy.

The wealth of our minerals has
Killed the innocent
Maimed the young
Raped the poor

Women and children
Struggled to survive
We lived in blood
In fire

We cried tears of blood
Terrible pain
We breathed in the smell
Burning bodies

Wounded children
Fathers
Mothers
Who, too young to die, were
Slaughtered in front of us

I feel my heart burning inside
My tears fight to be released
My emotions are reined tight,
and I can’t let them be eased.

My heart is bursting, my face cool as rock
What can I do to release from this itching pain?
I must be strong and bear this pain
I pray to God almighty

Lord, let me be
Let me back in my sunshine and feel the heat of my heart
Let me be content lord
With life, care, love, and a happy family

And with friends who love me unconditionally
Let me be proud of myself
Lord, let me live my life at rest.
We are refugees in a strange land

No more tears of laughter
No more tears of joy
But refugees in another man’s land,
Thank you Lord for saving my life from the
Land of tears and sorrow.

Living in Happiness

The unexpected revelation,
Of hope towards the sky,
That falls below the sea.
The fall of a man is not the end of his life,

As long as you have hope and belief in God
He will surely bring back your dreams and
Happiness, This happiness
Beats in my heart like the touch of my beloved

Forever and ever it lives in me through the ravaging storms,
Though I neglected to recognize its existence
I have now found its strength
It shines through me like all the stars in the sky

You could see it my eyes, can’t you see?
It causes my eyes to twinkle!
It has guided me through my journeys
A once in a lifetime celebration

It is not a mistake
Just because it is causing someone an ache
When you have improved your life
Someone has got a mind to eliminate it.

If you insist on enhancing your life
I cannot resist
If you change
I cannot but match the challenge.

This is the time to rebuild our country,
Invest in the people
Look to our past and create a brighter future.
Blessed be our nation,

Blessed be those in foreign lands,
Blessed be to those who brought me to the U.S.A.,
Blessed be the rulers of today,
Blessed be Liberia, my mother’s land.

A Man with Dignity

I believe that in the future,
I will become
A man of strength
A man of humility

A man from a distant land
A man of great conviction
A man who will make a better community
A man who wants to be popular and honored

A man who wants all human beings
To be treated equally
A man who cares about his country and
The well being of the people

A man who will make his neighbors become
One, brothers and sisters
A man that will wipe off the sorrowful tears
Of Liberia

A man that will make Liberia rise forever
A man who will smile bright
Like the lights in the night sky
A man whose spirit is lovely

A man who will come from a place
Of great beauty
But also a place of suffering as well
It is a place in history

A place I call home
Where people will learn to know
Of my dignity
My cultures

My kindness
A man who lives in U.S.A
But his heart is in Liberia
A man who brings joy

A man who will bring comfort
A man who will bring out the best in life
I do not know what God’s intentions are,
But I will accept whatever it is

I will leave this destiny in his hands
I also know that he will not let me down
And he will surely give me life, peace, and joy.
