On Immigration:

I think the world needs to help immigrants. If someone new comes to a country from some other country to have better life or study, the government should help them. People who become immigrants don’t want to become immigrants. They always have excellent reasons to immigrate. Most people don’t recognize why others become immigrants; they just want to kick them out of their country and give them a difficult time hoping as a result they will go back. Although no immigrants like to leave their home town and go to someone else’s country or town, they do so because they want to have a better life. Some people come to study here, some come to work so they can have a better life, and some come to be with other family members. Some people don’t know immigrants; they judge them without knowing them. They should go to their homeland, to see what’s going on, and to understand why they become immigrants before they judge them. Then, once people understand each other, they should help each other.

Autobiographical Writing:

Being a Poor Child in Pakistan

Being a 9 year old boy
In Pakistan
I worked a lot
Sold plastics,
Worked in a car shop
But I was always happy
Till I saw someone
With something
That I always wanted
Like new shoes or books
But never could buy
Because it was too much
Money
My heart would break
I would get sad and
Start hating my life

I would work everyday
Not just work
I mean work hard
Harder than
Anyone would think
I could do
But that still didn’t help me
At the end of the day
I would get so tired
When I went home
My mom used to tell me; “Eat”
I replied “No, I ate”
But to be honest
I never ate
Dinner or lunch
Because I was too tired to eat
When I used to lie down on my back
I would think about tomorrow
What to do
How to do it …

I was always proud
Of myself
Working hard
So was my family
And the guy who I worked for
But he always gave me
20 rupees for a day
It didn’t matter how hard
I would get the same price
Everyday, 20 rupees
But if one day I didn’t
Work hard or good
That guy would
Beat me up
And give me only
5 rupees to take
A bus home

Every day
When he gave me
20 rupees
10 of those rupees
I would give to the bus
5 rupees for going home
5 rupees for coming back
And the ten remaining rupees
I would
Give my mom
Of those ten rupees
She could buy two naan (breads)
For the kids
That’s how a 9 year old boy
Lives in Pakistan

What Am I in the Present Days?

I always wanted a life
Like this because
I can go to school now
I don’t have to work
Most important of all
Is that I have my freedom
Freedom of speech
I feel like my
Dream has come true

I was a 10 year old boy
In Pakistan
I always dreamed
Of having a life where
I could go to school
I wouldn’t have to work
Everything would be possible in life
That was my dream
And that dream came true for me
I can be anything
I want to be now
I go to school
I’m a young man
With a lot of things
In my life
That I couldn’t dream about before

I have a sweet family
Eight kids in it
Four boys
Four girls
Some people
Think that’s too many kids
But, in fact,
that’s nothing
8 kids are nothing
Once you get used to them
They make you laugh
They make you sad
I guess they make you get a life
I think life is nothing
Without kids in it

I really love my life
Now because I have
The life I always dreamed about
The dream came true
I’m really happy being me now
I’m proud of being me now

What Do I want To Be In My Future?

I want to be a family doctor
I want to make my mom’s
Dreams come true
I want to see her happy
All the time
I will make her each and
Every dream
Come true

She wants me to be a doctor
And I will be a doctor
I want to help everyone who
I can help, who needs help
I will make a name for
My family
Helping others
Doing great things

Life is nothing
If you don’t use it
I will use my life to help those
Who I can help
And try my
Best to make a difference
In this world
