On War & Immigration:
War is one of the worst places to be without protection or power. War grounds are not a joke or a play ground. Soldiers are thinking of killing; people are hoping to survive. Bombs exploding, guns are spraying. Soldiers are screaming “I’m down.” Kids are crying. If people experienced war, they know how it feels and how fast things can happen to a person if their not careful.
Don’t judge people by their race or ability because you never know what that person went through or experienced. If you have the ability to help that person, do it. You never know; if the U.S gets in a war with another country, people might help you. Maybe the same person you helped. Immigrants, people who had nothing to do with the war, should be able to enter any country and be able to live like a regular resident in that country.
Autobiographical Writing:
Life Before the U.S.A.
I was born on June 16, 1991 at 2:00am.
I was the youngest in my family
And most spoiled.
Years went by, watching myself grow.
One day I decided I was old enough
To play with men outside.
I started playing soccer almost every day,
Coming home tired and hungry.
Summer was over,
Time for school
Cold weather. No sun.
Got up every morning,
Drank a cup of hot milk.
The school was right next to my house.
I was never late or absent.
Every weekend
My brother would take me to the barbershop.
After that, the mall or somewhere to eat.
My father owned a taxi company and 7 drivers.
Different drivers would come every morning.
Each one paid my father to rent the taxi for services.
My mother also had a clothing business.
She brought jewelry, clothes, and electronics from other countries.
Each summer
One of us
Would go with her.
Every time she came back
She brought
My favorite cookies and powdered milk.
In 1999, my sisters and my decided
We wanted to go to Syria.
For education and to visit my married sister.
We started going to school.
Every summer
One of us went to visit my mom.
She lived 200 miles away
Across the border
In Saudi Arabia (Mecca).
Life in the U.S.A.
The moment I got off the plane in Los Angles, California I knew my life was going to be different. The people, schools, and jobs. We arrived at our apartment. Two weeks later, I was enrolled in school. My house was a mile away from school. The first day I went to school, all the kids looked at me and said “That’s the new boy.”
I didn’t know what they were saying because I only knew a couple of English words. I started getting used to school, and I started making friends. Every morning I was at school by 7:00, ready to play basketball. I was one of the smallest kids on the court, but I still got my playing time. I finished 7th grade, then went to summer school to get better for the next school year. Summer went by; then, it was time for school again.
Eighth grade started, and everybody was back in school. The school had a teen club next to it for students to go there and hang out after school hours. High school kids that used to go to the school came to the club to play basketball and hang out. Now I am one of the best players at the club and school. I started high school as a freshman on June 24, 2005.
The first and last years of high school are the best years for any student. I played freshmen basketball with most of the friends I used to play with at middle school. Now I am a junior in high school that’s even more athletic, talented and gifted.
Future in the U.S.A.
When I grow up I want to be an architect or a Secret Service member. I want to draw my dream house and build it. Architects have one of the best jobs in the city and have the nicest houses on the mountain. Drawing is also one of my favorite things to do when I am bored and I want to apply that skill to drawing my dream house.
The Secret Service is another job I am interested in because of the way they dress and how well they get paid. These men always drive black cars dressed in black. Serving the president is one if the highest paying jobs and most serious.
After graduating, I want to go visit Sudan, Syria and Saudi Arabia. I want to see my old friends that I used to know from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I just want to walk through the Syrian malls and shop for clothes, jewelry and eat some of the most delicious food they make there. Then I would go to Mecca and drink some of the holy water that they have there in the mosque.
After these travels, I plan to come back to the U.S and pursue a successful career that pays well enough for me and my kids to have a nice house on the mountain and a nice office in the city.
