Poverty
I lived in a very different world
In a very divided world
Worlds that are not connected
Who knows if they will ever be connected?
Living in my country Equatorial Guinea
Was a terrible experience
Everything and everybody is divided
Rich and poor
What about the middle class?
People living without anything
People living with everything
All from the same world
People trying to find food
Such as bread, rice
People having food but wasting
That piece of bread somebody craves
All from the same world
People living in huts made of sticks and wood
People living in huge mansions
Extraordinary, fancy that shine at a quick glance
All from the same world
People doing anything it takes to get money
Assaulting people
Killing others
Prostituting
People having money
Traveling to other countries
Buying fancy cars
Celebrating every day
All from the same world
People drinking non-purified water
Risking themselves to dangerous health issues
Fever
Diarrhea
People drinking purified water but wasting it
Throwing it away
All from the same world
People not being able to send their child to school
Because they don’t have any money
People sending their children to expensive schools
When their children are not learning at all
All from the same world
Why all these differences?
Are we that different from each other?
Don’t we all have the right
To have our basic needs met in order to survive?
Let’s all get together
Let’s all share among us
Let’s all work to create equity
Fighting against the chain of misery and poverty
Visualizing a better future and
Creating a powerful world
