Roselia Araceli Torres-Ruiz was separated from her family and loved ones. Roselia Araceli Torres-Ruiz was arrested on March 18, 2008. She was in jail for 112 days. Ms. Torres-Ruiz was arrested for working illegally here in the U.S. While in prison, she wrote: “America has power but not justice. In prison we were victims. We were guilty, given no opportunity to explain. It was really brutal. I put my head own and cried. But my tears were not gonna help me.”
She is now waiting for the judges to say if she is going to stay.
I’m not seeing the liberty or the justice in the U.S. Ms. Torres-Ruiz and other immigrants are not seeing it either. I don’t think it’s fair for Americans to discriminate against immigrants. I have seen people being discriminated against for their color and race, and I don’t think that it’s fair. Just because immigrants don’t have documents does not mean they shouldn’t be treated like humans beings. Immigrants are going to come and go.
