Falah, Amna

When I came from Kuwait to Jordan, I found that my new school was too small. The library was boring and I couldn’t focus when I was reading because of the noise outside. I stopped going to the library. Additionally, there were more than forty girls in the class. We were in the same class for the whole year, and I felt like I was in a bubble because I was sitting with the same girls every day. In Jordan, I didn’t like some subjects, but I couldn’t change my schedule. So I tried to love these subjects, but I couldn’t. I also had very low grades, so I went to my teacher for help, but, in Jordan, there is nobody to help after school. Furthermore, I love technology so much, and I had computer class, but there were more than four girls per computer. Finally, after a few years, they told me, “Because you are not a Jordanian student, you have to pay for school.” I was sad because I wanted to at least finish high school. So my mother decided to travel to the U.S. There were many people going to the U.S., and they have a better life than in Jordan.

Before we came here, I was very scared because I thought I would not pass my classes and not understand anything because English is my second language. I thought I would be alone. However, when I came here, I was shocked. The school was big. The library was so quiet. In the beginning, I couldn’t find friends, but after a few days I found many. The school is easy. I am passing all of my classes with high grades. It is amazing because I can take the subjects I want to, and change my schedule if I don’t like it. Also, if you like something and you are not good at it, you can ask the teachers to help you to be perfect in your hobbies.

Now, I have the opportunity to reach my goal. I receive the good education. Here you feel everybody wants you to pass, and they look after you if you need something.
