Dear uncle,

Hey what’s up? It’s me, Francisco Chavez. I am writing this letter to you so I can warn you about what alcohol can do to your life and your family. I did some research in Ms. Kasper’s class about alcohol and I picked this topic because I want to be able to help you. I don’t want something bad to happen to you because of alcohol. I know that you have some problems, but drinking is not the right way to solve your problems.

One thing that alcohol can do to you is make you more aggressive. So any time you feel angry, please don’t drink alcohol because it could make you more aggressive. Every time you get in a fight with your family, just walk out of it and come to my house until you and your family are calm. Maybe one day you will be angry and you could end up killing your family or your family could end up killing you because you are so drunk and can’t control yourself.

I am going to give you some advice. Whenever you go to a party and you get drunk and want to drive, I prefer that you call me so I can tell my mom to go pick you up. Drinking and driving do not mix and you know that already because you have experienced that once. You got lucky that nothing serious happened to you when you got in that car accident; I know that you don’t want to experience that again because nobody knows what’s going to happen to you if you get in another car accident.

Alcohol can give you a lot of diseases and can also end your life fast. You know that because you have been kicked out of two houses and you have also lost two cars in car accidents. I remember when I was 13 years old; you used to have a good job and had a lot of money. Everyday you used to give me, my brothers, and your sons money. Now that I see you, I know how alcohol is destroying your life little by little.

My aunt and cousins are not pleased that you are drinking and I know that because I have seen my aunt miserable for the past few months and she cries evey time you leave at night. My aunt cries because she knows that you are going with your friends to drink. My aunt and cousins are sad because they’re afraid that something terrible is going to happen to you. You might not notice because you never pay attention to your family and you always go out in a hurry and don’t even inform your family where you are going to be, so your family always stays worried about you.

The best way for you to stop drinking alcohol is to join Alcoholics Anonymous. There are people that are going to help you stop drinking. They’re going to give you a lot of advice and you will also meet a lot of people that have a similar problem that you have. I promise you that after you are done with Alcoholics Anonymous you will have a better life. You are going to enjoy not being an alcoholic any more. Your life is going to be much easier. You will also thank me for helping you. I hope you read this letter and I also hope you change and go to Alcoholics Anonymous. You would make a big difference in your family if you stop drinking alcohol. Hey, if you have any questions or you need to talk to me, just give me a call.
